Blue Ridge Mazda Speculates Engine Future for Mazdas in Lee’s Summit
Mazda is reportedly planning to reveal the 2014 Mazda6 in showrooms in the early part of 2013. The Mazda6 will be missing an integral part of its performance – its available V-6 engine. The trend Mazda has been following is to produce vehicles with a more efficient engine and decreased powertrain. Blue Ridge Mazda, a valued Mazda dealer in Lee’s Summit, MO, is curious of what the future holds for the automaker.
In the earlier part of April, Mazda revealed its plans to use the Skyactiv-G gasoline engine in its vehicles as well as an available six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. However, the carmaker did not make any mention of its traditional V-6 engines.
Mazda representatives have mentioned that there are currently no plans for the V-6 to appear in the 2014 Mazda6, but that it isn’t outside the realm of possibility to be present in future models. Representatives also reinforced that the automaker is planning on bringing Skyactiv-D diesel technology to North America; however, specific models that would receive the engines have not yet been identified.
It is no surprise that the next-generation Mazda6 will be fully outfitted with Mazda Skyactiv technology. The automaker has been trying to incorporate such details as Skyactiv engines, efficient transmissions, lighter body materials and a more athletic chassis, in all of its latest vehicles. The Mazda6 will also reflect Mazda’s newest design philosophy, Kodo, which embodies movement, power, performance and balance. Auto enthusiasts have also speculated whether or not the vehicle will resemble the Takeri concept revealed at the New York Auto Show.
