For those unfamiliar with SkyActiv Technology Mazda North American Operations’(MNAO) President & CEO, Jim O’Sullivan, explained SkyActiv technology like this, stating that, “SkyActiv Technology is not just an engine; it is a new generation of advanced vehicle performance and efficiency. SkyActiv Technology embodies Mazda’s philosophy of engineering only vehicles that are fun to drive, satisfying to own and environmentally responsible; and there is no better vehicle to start than with the Mazda3, one of the most exciting sport compact cars on the road.”

The 2012 Mazda3 was Mazda’s first vehicle to feature SkyActiv Technology, in North America, which is Mazda’s ‘innovative fuel-saving and performance-oriented technology.’ SkyActiv Technology has been praised over time, not only for the excellent fuel economy, but also for the power it retains in wake of the increased efficiency. Mazda to Bring SkyActiv Diesel to the United States Sooner than Later

Mazda to Bring SkyActiv Diesel to the United States Sooner than Later

Mazda to Bring SkyActiv Diesel to the United States Sooner than Later

Blue Ridge Mazda, the leading Mazda dealer in Kansas City, is excited to announce that Mazda recently released plans to bring the SkyActiv-D, diesel engine,  to U.S. soil as soon as 2014. Mazda is very enthusiastic about this plan as it will help Mazda differentiate themselves from the competition in the competitive hybrid vehicle market. The diesel engine in question generates  173 horsepower as well as 310 lb-ft of torque, something that isn’t seen by a hybrid engine.

Jim O’Sullivan, President & CEO of Mazda North American Operations, MNAO, recently stated that, “We think it’s(SkyActiv-D) a good differentiator. It will give Mazda a reputation that the people at Mazda are always doing something a little different.” O’Sullivan is exactly correct, with all of these hybrid options none have a very solid powertrain like the SkyActiv-D offers.

Mr. O’Sullivan didn’t state specifically which Mazda model will feature Mazda’s SkyActiv-D diesel engine, but one would have to think that with the new 2013 Mazda CX-5 crossover would be the one to do so. The 2013 Mazda CX-5 is the first vehicle built by Mazda that is 100 percent inspired by SkyActiv technology.

Mazda’s new CX-5 will go on sale at some point in March, but will feature Mazda’s SkyActiv-G gas engine. It gets a combined fuel efficiency of 29 miles per gallon. With that being said the people at Mazda believe that by switching out the gas engine with Mazda’s diesel engine, efficiency would increase by right around 30 percent!

For news on not only the 2013 Mazda CX-5, but also the arrival of the Mazda Skyactiv-D diesel engine keep tabs on Blue Ridge Mazda’s blog, the leading Kansas City Mazda dealer. With a wide variety  of new Mazda’s in Kansas City, it only makes sense to shop at Blue Ridge Mazda.

Mazda’s SkyActiv Not Affecting “Zoom-Zoom” Mantra

Mazda’s SkyActiv Not Affecting "Zoom-Zoom" Mantra

Mazda’s SkyActiv Not Affecting "Zoom-Zoom" Mantra

Although Mazda has recently fully committed to SkyActiv technology, you can still expect Mazda to keep their famous mantra of “Zoom-Zoom.” SkyActiv technology is Mazda’s commitment to efficiency in almost every regard, ranging from chassis to transmissions. Mazda has recently  shown strong sales towards the end of the year with sales in December2011 showing an increase of a little over 4% over last year’s figures. Mazda’s 2011 December numbers were the best that Mazda has had dating back to 2007!

With Mazda recently unveiling more and more SkyActiv technology it should come as no surprise that Mazda’s numbers have been showing a positive trend.  With that being said, Mazda still is in the works developing SkyActiv technology and the release of the 2013 Mazda CX-5 will mark the first vehicle that features all of Mazda’s SkyActiv technology.

December sales had some serious year-over-year gains for Mazda and nothing showed a higher increase than the Mazda2 which had a 61% increase in December. Leading the way percentage-wise for Mazda was the Mazda2, which saw its sales increase 60.9% from a year ago. Mazda’s minivan, the Mazda5, also put on a show by showing a 53% gain over last year. Also, both the Mazda CX-9 and the Mazda3 posted sales gains of over 20% for the month.

If you’re looking to check out a new Mazda in Kansas City, look no further than Blue Ridge Mazda. With a wide variety of new and used vehicles, and the entire Mazda lineup, why start you search anywhere else? A new Mazda is the perfect balance of efficiency and performance all at a reasonable price. Shop Blue Ridge Mazda today and get the car that you deserve.
